Dominic ChanDr. Dominic Chan was born and raised in Hong Kong. He speaks fluent Mandarin, thanks to 8-years of childhood schooling at Kiangsu-Chekiang Primary School and Kindergarten. When he was fourteen, he went to Victoria College, Jersey in the British Channel Islands where he enjoyed a very happy 4-year of boarding school life. In 1989, Dominic received Queen's Medal for Mathematics, it was presented by Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II. He studied engineering at Cambridge University and belonged to Trinity College. During his 8 years in Cambridge, Dominic obtained BA, MA and PhD (DSP - Digital Signal Processing) degrees. After spending over 12 years in UK to study and work, Dominic returned to Hong Kong in January 1997 and had witnessed Hong Kong returning to the motherland. He left the academic world, started working for McKinsey and Company in the management consulting field and has led several technology companies in the field of VoIP/integrated messaging system, Web/e-commerce solution, Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) systems and e-learning. He was the co-CEO of a-connect (China), a consulting staffing company and the founder of Decisive Consulting Limited (http://www.decisiveconsulting.com).

At leisure, he likes to promote the importance of a healthy balanced lifestyle and he is passionate about networking among school alumni and ex-colleagues community through building alumni websites and organising social activities. Dominic loves travelling, outdoor activities, good food, reading and movies. He is the founder of the leisure site Leglessbird.com.

I am a Hong Kong Chinese, born and raised in Hong Kong, so Cantonese is my mother tongue and thanks to Kiangsu-Chekiang Primary School and Kindergarten, I speak fluent mandarin since the age of 3. I have 2 elder sisters, so I am the kid-brother in the family. My wife, Irene and I got married in July 2004 :-) (Our wedding site)

I left Hong Kong when I was 14, I studied and worked in Jersey, Channel Islands and Cambridge, UK for 12 years. Upon finishing my BA and PhD at Cambridge, I returned to Hong Kong in January 1997 and witnessed one of the important historic events of Hong Kong - Returning to the motherland. Since my return to Hong Kong, I have been actively organising many events with friends for friends and alumni

Meeting the Queen in 1989I studied at Hong Kong Kiangsu-Chekiang Kindergarten and Primary School and went to TWGHs Lee Ching Dea Memorial college for the first three years of my secondary education. I then studied at Victoria College, (Jersey, Channel Islands, Great Britain) for 4 years. I was awarded the Queen's Gold Medal for mathematics presented by Her Majesty the Queen in 1989.

I lived in Cambridge, England from October 1988 to January 1997 and studied at Trinity College, Cambridge University to read Electrical and Information Science. I obtained a BA (Hon.) degree in 1991 and MA in 1994. I started my Ph.D. studies in October 1993 with the Signal Processing and Communications Lab., Department of Engineering, Cambridge University, under the supervision of Professor. Rayner, the funding was kindly provided by the Croucher Foundation.
