Hiking Log: Lai Chi Woo at Tai Po on 19 Nov 2006

November 19th, 2006

Lai Chee WooThere were 10 of us who took on this interesting 7-hour trip, nice view, nice trees, especially in the red forest, there is plenty of wetland. We had a late lumch at around 2:30pm with chicken congee and another chicken dish, apparently free ranger chicken, and we had the tufu flower dessert.

As we were 1-hour behind schedule, we were walking in the dark during the last part of our trip which was quite exciting.

Route description
We start our trip at Bride's Pool Trail. After passing through several villages like Wu Kau Tang, Kau Tam Tso, and Sam A Chung which is an excellent site for watching butterflies, we reach the Yan Chau Tong Marine Park, often regarded as the "Guilin in Hong Kong". We take a break at the interesting village Lai Chi Wo, where simple lunch can be served. The place is also well known for its nearby mangrove plantation. We depart via Fan Shui Au and Kuk Po Village to Luk Keng where flocks of egret can sometimes be seen. After having late-afternoon tea at a food store we take the minubus back to Tai Po. Including lunch and afternoon tea time, the whole event takes about 7 hours.

Remarks
Bring: water (1.5 litres), some snacks (food available at Lai Chi Wo though), jacket, camera and also a torch.

Report: Art Appreciation on Sat 18 Nov 2006

November 18th, 2006

So glad that I attended this event, I've learned so much (though still know so little) about the painting of 齊白石 Qi Baishi. With the excellent presentation delivered by Mr. Marco Szeto, curator of Xubaizhai Gallery of the Hong Kong Museum of Art, followed by the guided tour.

Some of us also took the opportunity to appreciate the Masterpieces from the Centre Pompidous, Paris
