Bourgogne is of course famous for its wine. Here we visited some wine yard and tasted some wine, we had a very knowledgeable local guide to explain to us and show us round. Learn more about what it means to be Grand Cru wine.
This is part of our 2-week French language trip in Lyon.

Beaune is a small town with some historical site such as Hotel Dier Hospices de Beaune which was builr in the 15th century and was once used as a hospital. We had a very nice dinner at a local restaurant (rather expensive) but was well worth it, it is called Le Jardin des Remparts.

The Girl from Paris

The Girl from Paris (Une hirondelle a fait le printemps) [ NON-USA FORMAT, PAL, Reg.2 Import - France ] (buy from Amazon)
Director: Christian Carion
My rating: 3
Key actors/actresses:
Michel Serrault ... Adrien
Mathilde Seigner ... Sandrine Dumez
Story:
Sandrine is a Parisien who wants to become a farmer. Adrien is an old farmer, widower who is selling his farm. Sandrine bought Adrien's farm and turn it into a resort/farm, she has much to learn to be a farmer, Adrien also wants to train her, but he is keeping this cold face because all the farmers are skeptical about Parisien turns farmer... Indeed, it is a lot more difficult than Sandrine has anticipated but she is not giving up!
My review:
Though the plot is not really my cup of tea, but it is a nice simple story that is peaceful and positive. It presented some hardship that is not readily understood by people who live all their lives in the city.

Review:
I had dinner on Sat. We had tempura set, tuna sashimi (with special source), fried potato. All these are on the cheap side of the menu and standard is OK. The set meals are of reasonable prices. There are other dishes which cost a few hundred. Lunch menu is different from dinner menu.
For second time, I came on Fri. The waitress recommended several rare dishes. Our 1st time to taste fish pate. We had ox-togue with sausages. A big hot pot with seafood. I like the atmosphere because you can eat slowly when the restaurant is not full. It's quiet. You can spend a lot dining here if you go for those fresh or rare dishes. For normal dishes, you can go other places.

Review: 3 course set lunch priced $68 - 98. Value for money. Although the dishes are westernized, they tastes good. You can find out the level of spice from the staff. Service is welcoming and friendly.
Koh Samui, Thailand, Asia, 4-8 Apr 2007
We went to Koh Samui for a short Easter break in 2007, nothing like the usual back-packer trip, this one is a relax, stay-in-the-hotel type of holiday as this is also a working holiday... Anyway, the weather was very hot and sunny, we enjoy swimming in the pool and eating at restaurants by the beach. We stayed at Bandara which is not in the town centre but not too far. The town has plenty of small shops for gifts, clothes and handicrafts.
